Important update on peanut situation

04/14/09 : New production of Slim-Fast® bars

Slim-Fast – New production of Slim-Fast® bars

Slim-Fast is re-introducing the bar products that had been recalled from the marketplace in February 2009, due to peanut ingredients that had been supplied by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA).

The new production can be identified with “Best-If-Used-By Dates” stamped on the Slim-Fast Optima® Milk Chocolatey Peanut Meal Replacement Bar – sold in paperboard boxes, 6 bars per box, 60 g each box.  The date will read as follows:

Consumer Unit Boxes:  “DEC 1209” or later
UPC: 6840016215

You may recall that on February 13, 2009 Slim-Fast announced the recall of this product because it may have contained peanuts that were being recalled by PCA. The PCA recall was ordered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on February 12, 2009, as a result of unsanitary conditions at the PCA Plainview, Texas, facility, which could have compromised the peanuts.
